Meet the Loggin’s Family: Local Restaurant Owners of Pie Town Cafe & Desserts
By Nick Rama, Link Local Food Ambassador
The holidays are coming, so what better way to celebrate all of your upcoming work parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas meals than with homemade pies? Pie Town conveniently opened their new location in 2017 at 19285 David Memorial Drive by the Shenandoah Visitor Center and behind Home Depot. Pie Town has been baking Pies since 2001 at their original location, which was at Portofino shopping center, a short distance from their newer location. Going from a 1,200 sqft / 24 seats location to a 3,000 sqft / 50 seat location.
Pie Town boasts 35 pie flavors and goes to 50+ flavors around the holidays. The new location also has an expanded food menu with sandwiches, salads, wraps, baked potatoes and homemade soups and coffee drinks. Homemade fudge, cookies, fresh-baked breads (jalapeño cheddar and parmesan loaves), cakes, floats, coffee drinks, and more are also available. Dessert inspired and themed merchandise, serving dishes, candles chocolates and other goods are also available for purchase in front of the dining room and order counter. Perfect for holiday gifts, employee gift exchanges, and stocking stuffers.
Pie Town Cafe and Desserts is Owned by Debra and Mike Loggins. Their daughter Taylor helps run daily operations. Pie Town Cafe offers 10 inch and personal size pies – with pumpkin and pecan pie as holiday favorite flavors, plus gluten-free and sugar-free options are available. The Loggins’ pies and desserts are old fashioned family recipes, that use real butter with no lard and are baked fresh every day. The family has made pies together from scratch alongside their baker Carlos Reyes who has over 36 years of baking experience – with 16 of those years working at Pie Town Cafe. Together the Loggins family and staff members have enjoyed serving the community.
Pie Town Cafe is already accepting orders for the holidays by phone, text or in-store until the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
