Local Spotlight: Cilantro’s Taco Spot- Fresh Mexican Food Inside The Woodlands Mall

Fresh Mexican style street tacos at a mall food court? That is what you will find directly in front of the carousel at The Woodlands Mall center food court. Cilantro’s is known for its Tex-Mex at their restaurants and is now available while you are shopping. The Taco Spot is a cut above your standard food court fare of Chinese, hot dogs, cheesesteaks and mystery bourbon chicken. Instead one can enjoy Mexican style street tacos – four corn Tortillas with Fajita chicken and beef topped with onions and cilantro, excellent with a squeeze of fresh lime. Traditional crispy or soft tacos plates are also available with ground beef or rancheros chicken topped with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes served with rice and beans.

Cilantro’s Taco Spot Is More Than Just Tacos-

The Taco Spot does have more than tacos, the most impressive is the traditional style tortas made on perfect telera bread. Choice of meat, with beans, mayonnaise, avocados, tomatoes, sour cream, onions, and queso fresco. The tortas are a hearty and tasty Mexican sandwich with layers of flavor. The perfect pairing with your tacos or torta is definitely the Mexican Corn (fix it up your own way by adding mayonnaise, butter, cheese, lime and hot sauce to your liking of flavor and heat).

If you’re looking for something more filling, try the Grande Burrito, Fajitas, Taco Salads, Quesadillas, Nachos, and Enchilada plates (ground beef, rancheros chicken or fajitas).

Taco Spot marinades and grills everything on site, this may look like an ordinary food court kiosk operation, but they have a full kitchen behind the scenes. Luis and his team are there early everyday cooking, grilling and preparing all the food and making fresh salsas. Fresh Aguas Frescas such thirst-quenching flavors as Pina, Jamaica, and Horchata to go along with your delicious meal or take a beverage with you while shopping through the mall.

Taco Spot has more than your average chain cookie or froyo for dessert – how about some freshly made Flan and Tres Leches? Strawberry or Pina Colada smoothies to cool you down when the weather is hot or a refresher for a midday break.

1) Why did you decide to open Cilantro’s Mexican Grill Taco Spot inside The Woodlands Mall Food Court?

We decided to open Cilantro’s Mexican Grill Taco Spot inside of The Woodlands Mall Food Court when the opportunity to open a location close to our flagship location off of Sawdust in The Woodlands was presented. It was a huge blessing for us.

2) The food court has so many options to choose from, what sets CMG Taco Spot apart from the others?

CMG is the only Mexican restaurant located inside of The Woodlands Mall. We offer very affordable daily specials Monday-Friday, including a 2 Enchilada plate served with rice, beans, and a small drink on Monday’s for only $6.99. Guests who dine with us can get a full meal for less than a burger and fries. We also have a healthy option Taco Salad.

3) Do you locally source ingredients?

Yes, we buy ingredients from our local business partners and are all about supporting other local, small businesses.

4) Freshness is important to you, what else do you do fresh daily?

Everything in our kitchen is prepped fresh daily in its own full kitchen on site.

5) What are your most popular menu items at CMG taco spot?

The most popular menu item at Cilantro’s Taco spot is definitely our authentic Mexican Tacos. Quesadillas come in as a close second.

6) What would you suggest for an afternoon snack if you were walking by?

If you are out shopping in the mall and looking for an afternoon snack, a good Tres Leches would be a unique option for an afternoon snack.We also serve up specialty drinks including Horchata and smoothies
