Local Spotlight: Cilantro’s Mexican Grill Happy Hour & Appetizers
By Nick Rama, Link Local Food Ambassador
Cilantro’s Mexican Grill is bringing you one of the best happy hours and stellar appetizers at four different locations. The original location at 1960 near 45, Spring/Woodlands location on Sawdust, Willis location on Canyon Falls Blvd and the Humble/Kingwood area on Kingwood Dr.
Cilantro’s Every Day Happy Hour-
Cilantro’s happy hour is every day from 11 am – 6 pm, featuring $2.99 House Margaritas, Domestic Draft Beers for $1.99 (except for Kingwood), imported bottled beers for $4.50, and domestic bottled beers for $3.50. All of these would perfectly pair with some chips, salsa and chili con queso or some made to order guacamole for a light afternoon snack. Grab some loved ones or some friends and share a Botana Mixta – Queso Asado, mini flautas, quesadilla, and bacon-wrapped shrimp. Served with lettuce, avocado slices, tomatoes, and sour cream or the Cilantro Platter Sampler – Jalapeno poppers, chicken quesadillas, beef nachos, quail legs, and chicken flautas. Maybe a platter of Nachos – Topped with Ranchero Chicken or ground beef beans, melted cheese, guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños (upgrade with beef or chicken fajitas for a small charge.)
House Margaritas would pair well with one of their new Ceviche Tostadas – a stack of three whole tostada rounds topped with shrimp, fish, fresh mango, pico de gallo and avocado or their signature Shrimp Cocktail Mexicana – Juicy, tender gulf shrimp mixed in our authentic shrimp cocktail sauce, garnished with chopped avocados, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. House-made Empanadas would also be a nice pairing; Four empanadas stuffed with chicken and chorizo, cheese, black beans, and corn relish.
Try the Queso Flameado with one of their outstanding specialty margaritas, Cilantro’s Margarita – boasting the “Best Margarita in town!” Made with Milagro Tequila, a squeeze of fresh lime juice and Grand Marnier. The newly added Jalapeno Margarita is refreshing and spicy made with Avion Tequila and Gran Gala liquor. This margarita would be excellent with some Fish or for something with less heat, Shrimp Tacos would be great with a Summer Breeze cocktail – Made with Absolut Vodka, orange juice and a splash of cranberry juice or a La Paloma Tradicional – Made with Jimador Tequila, grapefruit soda, salt and lime, and sweet n sour mix. Refreshingly delicious!
Under $10 Lunch Specials-
Cilantro’s also has some great lunch specials, to go along with their happy hour drinks. Try out their new Chicken Tinga Tostadas or Tacos, a beautifully braised chicken in a flavorful chipotle sauce. Tacos, Flautas, Enchiladas, Tamales, Burritos, soups and salads. Lunch specials are a steal and most dishes are under $10 bucks.
Coming soon Cilantro’s Mexican Kitchen will be offering a selection of half-priced happy hour appetizers. Stay tuned to your favorite Cilantro’s Facebook page on the upcoming announcement.
